Curiosity
In our bookshop, being intellectual does not mean being the “smartest person in the room.” It means having curiosity and following that curiosity wherever it might lead you.
We believe that books are for everyone.
We believe that there are books for everyone.
We know that there are different paths to knowledge, and the western canon is only one of many.
Avid readers, reluctant readers -- and everyone in between -- are very welcome into our bookshop, and it is our job to meet you where you are on your reading journey.
Joy
We believe that there is value in being serious and intellectual but also in having fun. Reading can help us to gather information and to practice empathy, but it can also be an excellent way to relax, escape, laugh, and find joy!
Introspection
We believe in creating a space where you can be alone to browse the shelves to search for books that spark your interest and to sit and read, study, or think in a welcoming space.
Community
We also believe that communities need spaces for events, exchanging ideas, organizing, or simply passing the time on a rainy day with their children.
Kindness
Our bookshop values kindness, patience, understanding, diversity, equity, inclusion, and liberation.
All are welcome who welcome all.
